Physical requirements of willow weaving
Willow weaving does require physical strength, especially in our hands but also at times, we are required to use our bodies to work at different leves. Sometimes we are required to bend down on our knees, stand for lengths of time or to work on our laps. We make every effort to accommodate for different abilities but if you have concerns about physical requirements, best to contact us to discuss specifics.
Workshop Waiver
If you are registered for a willow weaving workshop, you will be required to sign a waiver at the beginning of the workshop to acknowledge the use of sharp tools which are required to work with willow and which will release the teacher and the venue owners from all liability relating to injuries that may occur during a workshop. We will discuss safe ways to use and manage the tools to avoid injuries. We do have a first aid kit on site for emergencies.
Photography
We like to take pictures during our workshop so we can document and share our experiences online through social media. We respect your privacy and ask that you let us know if you rather not be captured in photos.
Workshop Venue
Address: 717 Meadow Green rd, St. Andrews Antigonish Co. B0H 1X0
Phone Number: 902-318-5300
The workshops are held in a renovated space in an old century barn. Although we do have some heat in the space, we do recommend that you dress with layers to accommodate for fluctuating temperatures. When the weather permits, we have the option to eat lunch outside. It is also recommended to wear older clothes as working with willow can add wear and tear to your garments. There is a bathroom in the workshop space.
Accessibility of venue space
We are always trying to improve the accessibilty of our space to accommodate different levels of mobility but we are limited due to the nature of the older building we are currently in. There are ramps for wheel chair users but our washrooms do not accommodate every size of wheelchair. Please contact us for individual concerns about accessibilty of our workshop space.
Breaks and Food
We take a lunch break of around 45mins for a full day workshop. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day as well as a baked treat for an afternoon snack but you are required to bring your own lunch and encouraged to bring a water bottle. There is drinking water on site. Participants also have use of a fridge, kettle and a microwave.
